Sell Unwanted Electronics For Cash

You know how sweet it is to get new electronic gear. Gotta have a better cell phone every 2 years. Computers are only good for a few years or until they try to make you upgrade the operating system. Gaming consoles? Only the latest will do. OK, but how do you get rid of the old stuff?

Oh, you don’t? I guess that explains all the gear crammed into your closet and that pile of stuff in the basement. Hey, you might want to go back and use the old model, after all.

No you won’t. If you don’t reject your new purchase and return it in time to get your money back you are committed. Once you get used to more features, faster performance and cooler styling, there is no way you are going to revert to yesterday’s model of anything. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still benefit from it.

The way you benefit is to trade clutter for cash. You sell your old gadget to help pay for the next one. It’s a circle of life... or something like that.

Oh, but selling stuff is a royal pain. You can auction your gear but you’ve got to take pictures, write up a description, manage the listings, and then deal with the shock and anguish when somebody buys it for less than you believed it was worth. Selling through classified ads is just as much trouble, plus you’ve got to arrange appointments with people coming over to look at the stuff. Is there a better way?

You bet there is. Turn your electronics into cash quickly and easily with Gazelle. Here’s how it works. You use the search feature of the Gazelle site to find your cell phone make and model, or other electronic device you have. Then you take a short quiz about what condition your unit is in and what accessories, manuals, etc. you can provide. The more complete the package and the more like new the condition, the more you’ll get. You’ll then find out what the market price history and trend is for your device and how much Gazelle will buy it for.

Then it’s up to you. Oh, decisions, decisions. If you like the price, they’ll send you a prepaid mailer. You just pack up your items and drop them in the mail. When they arrive at Gazelle, the staff will verify the condition of everything and cut you a check. You can also get paid via PayPal or donate your proceeds to charity. It’s that easy.

What types of electronic gear can you sell this way? The categories are always expanding, but right now Gazelle buys cell phones, GPS devices, external drives, camera lenses, digital cameras, gaming consoles, LCD monitors, streaming media, MP3 players, camcorders, calculators, Blu-Ray players, laptops, video games, movies, home audio, PDAs, satellite radios, desktop computers and projectors.

What if it turns out that you’ve waited too long and your gear has no market value anymore? In that case, you can still send it in for proper recycling. At least you’ll know that you’re doing a good thing for the environment. Plus, you’ve gotten rid of some clutter so you can go out and buy more. :-)

One Eyed, One Horned, Flyin' Purple People Caller

When the new Lavender razor phone caught my eye, I was immediately transported back to my childhood in 1958. We were visiting the Illinois State Fair in Springfield that year and the hot novelty tune was something called the "The Purple People Eater" by Sheb Wooley. My Uncle bought us hats at the fair that looked like the alien one-eyed, one horned flying purple eater of the song. Sadly, they just don't write songs like that anymore. But they do make purple phones!

Motorola RAZR V3xx shown closed. What Motorola has created is of this world, but perhaps like nothing you've seen before. It's a Lavender version of the RAZR V3xx high performance cell phone. What it lacks in alien technology, it more than makes up in multimedia features galore.

Let's start with the one eye. That would be the 1.3 Megapixel digital camera with 8x digital zoom. It takes snapshots good enough to print or send via picture mail to friends. It also works as a camcorder to capture video with scenes as long as you have the memory to record. Memory on this beauty is expandable up to 4 GB, by the way.

As to the one horn, that would most likely be the Bluetooth headset clipped on your ear. Or it could also refer to the ringer that supports both MIDI and MP3 ringtones. See if you can find a copy of Sheb's big hit as your ringtone. Then try and keep a straight face.

Flyin'? I'll tell you what's flyin'. It's the AT&T TV with HBO or the AT&T Music with MTV, XM and Yahoo! music as add-on services. They're flying through the air and to your phone wherever you happen to be. Coverage is currently not available on other planets, but it's pretty decent in populous areas of the USA.

This advanced model of the venerable RAZR phone lets you use it as an MP3 player for all your favorite novelty and other tunes. It will stream music via Bluetooth wireless to compatible devices with big speakers, so everyone can enjoy the beat. Dialing can be done by punching in numbers or voice activated. For fun, associate your boss's phone with the phrase "take me to your leader." I'm not sure you can actually do that, and who'd want to anyway?

If lavender is your color, or if you're having Purple People Eater flashbacks, you can have your own purple people caller at a huge discount while the offer lasts.

Of course, popular and high performance cellular phones like the entire RAZR line, and just about anything else you would want, are available with great deals and lots of special offers at Cell Phone Plan Finder.

Never Pay For Directory Assistance

Here's the scene. You're over at a friend's house with the gang watching TV. Someone says: "I'm getting hungry. Anybody want Pizza?" Everybody else chimes-in: "Yes." There's a Joe's Pizza about a mile away, but who remembers the number? Hmmm. Can't find your friend's phone book, so you quick dial 411 for information. Bad decision. You'll probably pay more for that phone number than to have the pizza delivered.

Here's a better idea. Dial 1-800-FREE411 instead. You'll still get the number for that pizza restaurant, but the information is free. You won't get any ugly dollar-plus charges on your phone bill for calls to Information. Go ahead and call for some other numbers when you need them. You still won't get charged.

Doesn't 1-800-FREE411 sound like the perfect directory assistance service? It sure is, especially when you are on the go. You can call from your cell phone or from your home phone. It doesn't matter. You'll still get the information you asked for and you won't have to pay for it.

Now you're probably wondering how FREE411 can help you for free when the phone companies hit you up for as much as they can per call. Seems like somebody has to pay to support this service. Indeed, they do. Only it's not YOU. One of the things you'll notice when you call 1-800-FREE411 is that you'll hear a short commercial while the number you asked for is being looked up. It won't take any longer than if you dial 411 and pay for the call. You'll just get to hear a 15 second message, likely including a special offer.

That's the magic that puts the FREE in 1-800-FREE411. The commercial you hear is paid for by a local advertiser hoping to get your business. You called to get the number for Joe's Pizza. You may well hear an ad for Joanne's Pizza. Joanne is offering free delivery in hopes of luring you into calling her instead of Joe. We'll, it's your choice. You'll get both numbers.

Go ahead, give it a try and see what you think. Remember, calling 1-800-FREE411 really is free.

Now, if you happen to be the owner of Joanne's Pizza and think it would be great to have an ad for your business play to people who want the number for Joe's Pizza, or Tom's Pizza, or other rivals, then you should consider running an ad with FREE411. It costs only pennies every time your ad is played and just a small connection fee when a caller wants to switch from the business they asked for to you instead.
