Take Your Broadband On Vacation

Broadband at work or at home makes using the Internet such a pleasure. Most everyone now has a wireless router to distribute their broadband connection to desktop, laptop and notebook computers, plus tablets, e-readers and games. But what happens when you leave the building? Oh, oh. Nothing connects anymore.

Nationwide Mobile Broadband pay as you go...What you’d really like to have is a giant hotspot that goes where you go. You may be getting by in town and on the road by finding motels and restaurants that offer free WiFi. But it sure is frustrating when you can’t. What about at your relatives’ house or up at the lake? Internet? No Internet there.

Here’s a new way you can get that traveling WiFi hotspot and not worry about where you are going to find a connection. It’s called the DataJack MiFi. The MiFi is a slick little device about the size of a smartphone or deck of cards. There one button on the top to turn it on and off. Turn it on and you almost instantly have a WiFi signal that can be used by up to 5 devices. It’s called a personal hotspot because it goes with you.

How does the MiFi work? Inside is a rechargeable battery, a WiFi hotspot chip & antenna and a 3G wireless radio. What’s happening is that the MiFi is picking up the Internet wirelessly through cellular radio towers and then re-transmitting it on the WiFi band. This way any device that can connect to WiFi can have cellular wireless Internet.

Oh, but wait. If this is cellular broadband, then don’t you have to sign up for a two-year contract? No, not with this service. It’s pay as you go. There is no contract and no credit check to get turned down. If you decide you don’t want the service anymore, you can quit without having to pay any termination fees.

Think of the possibilities. You are stopped in your car because it is pouring rain. Wouldn’t it be great to see where the storm is headed so you can avoid the worst of it? No problem. Turn on your DataJack MiFi and your notebook computer or tablet and pull up the weather radar for that location. You’ll instantly have much more information that you’d get waiting for a forecast on the radio.

While you’re at it, why not see what restaurants and hotels are available in the area. A quick search by location will give you that and you’ll have their websites to peruse and phone numbers to call if you want to make reservations. All this while sitting in a parking lot in the rain somewhere out there.

Another good use for the same DataJack MiFi is backup broadband service for your home or office computer. Cable and DSL give you excellent connectivity until they don’t. Every broadband service has outages from time to time and it always seems like they go out at the worst possible time. If you have a DataJack MiFi, you can simply turn it on, connect any or all of your computers by WiFi and keep going. When landline service is restored, you can go back to it.

Some people may simply use the MiFi and forget about DSL or Cable Broadband. Why? Because they don’t use a desktop computer that much to justify paying for dedicated broadband every month. What they really want is a service they can use anywhere, including at home, and only pay for one Internet connection. This will work well as long as you are not one of those heavy users that is on all the time downloading HD videos and big software packages. There’s a limit of 5 GB per month, enough for nearly all casual Internet users, with overage charges beyond that.

Does the DataJack MiFi sound like a broadband service that will work for you? Instead of the MiFi, you can also choose a USB DataJack if that’s what your computer needs to connect. Learn more, check for coverage where you want to use it, and order DataJack 3G nationwide wireless broadband service now, so you’ll have it for your next trip.

4G Wireless Broadband Internet Has Arrived

Have you been ignored by the telephone and Cable companies building out their broadband networks? Or are you just frustrated by high prices and inadequate bandwidth? Well, you may be really interested in 4G wireless broadband Internet.

What’s 4G and why is it better? This is a new technology that goes by the name of WiMAX. It works something like a WiFi hotspot, but a hotspot that covers an entire city. Not only that, but this wireless signal penetrates buildings so that you can get wireless Internet at your desk. You don’t need to put up a dish or other antenna outside like you do with satellite services. Just set the 4G modem next to your computer and get online.

But just how good is this 4G compared to other Internet services? First, let’s look at speed. 4G WiMAX offers downloads at speeds from 3 Mbps to 6 Mbps with occasional bursts up to 10 Mbps. That’s faster than many DSL and Cable broadband services. It’s certainly faster than satellite broadband or what’s known as 3G cellular broadband. Cellular is what you get on your cell phone and rarely goes much faster than 1 Mbps. It works great for a cell phone and for your laptop computer when you can’t find a WiFi hotspot. But cellular broadband was never designed as a competitor to Cable and DSL. 4G was designed to be that competitor.

How about price? It’s not unusual to pay $45 or more per month for home broadband service. 4G broadband starts at $30 per month for unlimited service. For a little more, you can get both home and mobile service so you can use the same account for your laptop computer. It will run a lot faster on 4G than it will on 3G, making video and other downloads much more enjoyable.

Are you ready to upgrade your broadband connection or looking to get more bandwidth at lower cost? If so, learn more and see if you can get residential and home office broadband Internet service now.

Cheap Home Phone Service is Now VoIP

Where do you find the cheapest home phone services? The low cost provider for many consumers is now a competitive VoIP provider. But do you know were to find the best deals on VoIP service? They're not necessarily the ones you see on TV.

VoIP is something fairly new in the telephone business. It stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. That's a hint as to how it works. The Internet Protocol is what computers use to upload and download data on the Internet. The "voice over" part indicates that instead of sending email or Web pages, we are using the Internet to send voice over its broadband connections.

Find your best deals on affordable VoIP services now, using this handy online search tool. Click to use. So why VoIP? Traditional telephone service is delivered on copper wires to your home. It's a switched analog technology that has been used since the days of Alexander Graham Bell, with some technology updates along the way. But pretty much any phone you've ever had will still work on those analog lines. The standards have remained the same over the years.

The other thing that hasn't changed is that the local telephone company owns those wires that come to your house. Since deregulation of the telephone system some twenty or so years ago they no longer have exclusive rights to those lines. But the prices charged to competing companies to lease those lines is so high that few competitors can offer you a better deal and still make a profit. A few years ago they could, but changes in the regulations have driven most of them out of the marketplace.

This is where VoIP comes in. Competing phone companies have figured out that the way around leasing telephone wires is to avoid them. Instead, they use your DSL or Cable broadband service as the connection between your phone and their switching system. Since you already pay for your broadband service so that your computer can connect to the Internet, it's not very expensive to add telephone service to the same connection.

There are many providers of VoIP services now, but how do you find the best deals? Well it turns out there is a new online search engine that specializes in just VoIP phone services. It's called Affordable VoIP. All you need to do is decide on whether you want residential or business service, any other options to narrow the search results, and run the search. In seconds you'll get a list of the available VoIP plans organized by price with the cheapest deal at the top of the page.

One option you should definitely check is the box for "Adaptor/Router Included." The adaptor box is what connects your regular telephone that you already have to your Internet modem or router. Many of these adaptors have built-in provisions to share you computer and phone on the same line. A router, if you have one, will also do this sharing. But you need the adaptor box so that you don't have to turn on your computer to use your phone.

Ready to give it a try? It's fast and free to use anytime day or night. Visit Affordable VoIP and search for VoIP phone service now.
